From 12^th to 17^th September 2011, the 19^th World Meeting of the International Association of Forensic Sciences (IAFS) will be held in Portugal, in the city of Funchal on the island of Madeira. Other scientific events will be taking place at the same time, namely the 5^th Meeting of the Mediterranean Academy of Forensic Sciences (MAFS) and the 9^th Triennial Meeting of the World Police Medical Officers (WPMO).

This is the first time that these three important scientific events in the international calendar will be held simultaneously. It therefore offers an exceptional opportunity for the exchange of ideas and experiences amongst professionals, academics and others, and for debate about the most recent scientific, technological and theoretical advances in the field.

It will also be an important opportunity for the presentation and commercial divulgation of new products, equipment, books, services, etc, within the different areas of forensic science. Indeed, an excellent commercial area will be set up for the purpose in the foyer of the Conference Centre where these events will all take place.

We anticipate that delegates  from more than 80 different countries representing all five continents, will be present.

Madeira is an island paradise, with stunning scenery and a subtropical climate. For many, is one of the most beautiful places in the world. With a wide range of activities to entertain tourists, it is a very popular holiday destination. Any stay in Madeira, and its city of Funchal, will certainly prove to be memorable.

The Meetings will take place in the Conference Centre of the Casino Park Hotel, a beautiful building designed by the famous Brazilian architect, Oscar Niemeyer, located above the sea, just 5 minutes walking distance from the centre of Funchal. The logo of all companies represented at the fair will be placed on the official conference website in the area reserved for sponsors.
