About MAFS

MAFS (Mediterranean Academy of Forensic Sciences) was founded by Professors Said Louahlia, Director of the National Institute of Legal Medicine of Morocco; Alì Chadly, Director of the Institute of Legal Medicine of the Universitary Hospital of Monastir (Tunisia); and Aldo Barbaro, Director of SIMEF (Italy).

It is the Academy’s goal to promote an exchange of information and a collaboration among all the experts on the field of Forensic Sciences (forensic psychiatry, bioethics, legal odontology, genetics, fingerprinting, toxicology, ballistics, materials analysis, digital reconstruction, legal medicine, criminology) with the aim of improving the actual strategies to prevent the crime in its various forms and to discover and deliver the offenders to justice of a countries' own authorities.

For the aforementioned reason, are eligible for registration/application to the Academy, apart from the Medical Examiners, also Magistrates, Officers of the different Police Corps, Lawyers, Detectives, Psychologists, Sociologists and all those (privates or businesses) that work, at various title, in the forensic field as well (including the production of software or hardware, production of equipments, etc…).

Since the aim of the Academy is to increase the cultural exchanges among Forensic Sciences experts, specialists from different areas than the Mediterranean, can join M.A.F.S. too.
